Royal Jordanian Airlines starts serving its North American destinations with the new 787

Royal Jordanian airlines is one of our favorite airlines. Having been a passenger many times, I am excited to see the growth into the US market!

RJ starts serving its North American
destinations with the new 787

Amman, Dec. 2, 2014 – Royal Jordanian started operating its new 787 to North American destinations, after it completed the introduction of the first five 787s to the fleet, replacing the Airbus 340s that were used on these routes.
On Dec. 1, 2014, the airline’s 787 landed in MontrĂ©al–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and then took off heading to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), the first Dreamliner to land at either of these two North American airports. RJ started using the 787 to service Chicago and New York last month.

The airport authorities at both airports celebrated the event in the presence of media personnel and photographers, airport officials and RJ staff.

RJ Acting President/CEO Captain Haitham Misto said traffic to the US and Canada makes up a big part of the overall operations of the airline. It is basically focused to transport Arabs, members of these two countries' communities, and students, as well as businessmen and transit passengers.
RJ connects Amman with Chicago directly through five weekly flights, and to New York four times weekly, whereas Montreal and Detroit are served twice weekly. The frequency of flights to the North American destinations increases in the summer season.

Misto added that North American destinations are the longest-range destinations on the RJ route network. Therefore, RJ cares to offer its customers the highest standards of comfort on board.

The 787 features a host of new technologies that greatly enhance the passenger experience, such as larger windows, bigger overhead bins and enhanced ventilation systems.

Royal Jordanian welcomed its fifth 787 aircraft last week, thus completing the assimilation of the first batch of its 787 order, undertaken according to the airline’s strategic plan to renew its long-haul fleet. The 787s that RJ acquired are a new, advanced generation of the 787.

The airline will start receiving the rest of the ordered Dreamliners at the beginning of 2016, throughout the following few years.
The 787 provides airlines with unrivaled fuel efficiency, using 20 per cent less fuel than today’s similarly sized airplanes, and enable it to offer an exclusive eco-friendly performance.

The new planes also enable airlines to increase their cargo revenues by providing about 20 -30 per cent more cargo capacity than the current airplanes of the same size.
RJ’s 787 has a capacity of 270 seats, of which 24 Crown Class with fully 180 degree flat beds.

Each month Star Clippers introduces a select itinerary on Royal Clipper, Star Clipper or Star Flyer that will help you choose your unique sailing experience. A small ship brings you closer to the world, and Star Clippers takes you there with a yacht-like elegance …
If you want a taste of unique ports in the western Mediterranean, North Africa and Iberia, Star Flyer sails a 13-night Grand Voyage from Lisbon, Portugal, to Cannes, France.
While Lisbon, Europe’s second-oldest capital, is one of the region’s most vivid and beautiful cities, it’s Portugal’s charming port of call at Portimao that truly captivates. From its golden beaches to the 18th-century palace of the Viscounts of Bivar, it’s easy to get lost in the treasures of the Old Town.
The soulful spirit of Spain comes alive in four calls throughout the country. To better show you all that Spain has to offer, guests who book this itinerary will be given a complimentary full-day tour at Cadiz. The gateway to Seville, Cadiz is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites that form a monumental complex: the Seville Cathedral and Alcazar are imbued with Moorish influences, while the Archivo de Indias houses valuable documents from the archives of the colonies in the Americas.

At Tangier, Morocco, the city’s vibrant souks and exotic personality come to life, while a cable-car ride to the top of the rock at Gibraltar, U.K., ticks off a “must do” on every traveler’s bucket list. Visits to the stunning Balearic Islands of Ibiza and Mallorca allow time to soak up the sun and enjoy the spectacular scenery. And a final call at St. Tropez, the French Riviera’s most chic and liveliest port, leaves a lasting impression from a grand exploration.

23 Interesting and Potentially Useful Travel Facts

Our friend Ramon van Meer offers us something deep in research and wide in fun.

Ramon starts the conversation with,"it wasn’t easy tracking down all of this cool and weird stuff, but at the end of the day, it was worth it. I learned a lot. As the title suggest, some are useful and others are simply just fun facts, most people don’t know or could care less about, but we guarantee they’ll still be curious about it. We call it useless, but interesting information".

Heres one factoid:
Imagine boarding an airplane, rolling down the runway, then 47 seconds later, landing at your final destination. Well, it happens on a daily basis between the two Scottish islands of Westray and Papa Westray.

Sandy is interviewed by ECPAT USA (End Child Prostitution and Trafficking)

This week I was asked to answer three questions by ECPAT USA. ECPAT stands for End Child Prostitution and Trafficking.

As a member of The Code (www.TheCode.org) my company and I continue to dedicate time to bring human trafficking to a stop. Modern day slavery is alive and thriving and we all need to be vigilant and educated on the subject.ECPAT is using our answers in a social media campaign.

      1. Why it is more important than ever that the tourism industry get involved in combating
child trafficking.

Simple Answer! Because these horrific crimes are still being committed and the travel industry can be part of the solution!

2. Why your company got involved and continues to stay involved in this issue.
My day job offers me the opportunity to give back to my global community and it is the right thing to do.

As the executive producer and host of two travel radio programs and editor of a travel newsletter as well as a travel blogger, part of our business model getting involved with issues that protect healthy life styles.
I was asked to serve on the board of directors of Airline Ambassadors four years ago and we realized that traffickers were using airlines and other methods in our industry to transport those who are vulnerable. We decided to produce a training specifically for airports and crews and I became one of the first trainers of Human Trafficking Awareness 4 years ago. We have continued to train airports and other travel organizations.

In conjunction with my training, we use our voice to reach on issues of healthy life style. As the executive producer and host of TravelTalkRADIO, BusinessTravelRADIO we use these perfect platforms for experts to come and share their knowledge with listeners. We invite you to visit us at http://www.TravelTalkMEDIA.com/thecode_TTM.html

I am able to give my personal time and I am grateful that my radio programming has offered visibility as well offer visibility but feel a need to be active and volunteer in an area where we can make a difference. As the executive producer and host of I am on the board of directors TravelTalkRADIO, BusinessTravelRADIO are perfect platforms for experts to come and share their knowledge with listeners from all over the world. As a media company, TravelTalkMEDIA allows us to use multiple networks to educate and bring important information to consumers in multiple formats.

3. Tell us a success story from your work.
As a human traffic awareness trainer, every class is a success story, simply because we know at the end of the day, someone was deeply touched. It is evident as many share their thoughts with us after their training.

This summer I trained the attendees of the Disruptive Passenger Conference in London and again we were able to inspire many are partnering with some of them supporting their efforts to educate and stop this horrific human rights violation.

If you want to get more involved with ECPAT, and help end human trafficking go to: www.ECPATUSA.org
