Royal Jordanian Airlines starts serving its North American destinations with the new 787

Royal Jordanian airlines is one of our favorite airlines. Having been a passenger many times, I am excited to see the growth into the US market!

RJ starts serving its North American
destinations with the new 787

Amman, Dec. 2, 2014 – Royal Jordanian started operating its new 787 to North American destinations, after it completed the introduction of the first five 787s to the fleet, replacing the Airbus 340s that were used on these routes.
On Dec. 1, 2014, the airline’s 787 landed in MontrĂ©al–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and then took off heading to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), the first Dreamliner to land at either of these two North American airports. RJ started using the 787 to service Chicago and New York last month.

The airport authorities at both airports celebrated the event in the presence of media personnel and photographers, airport officials and RJ staff.

RJ Acting President/CEO Captain Haitham Misto said traffic to the US and Canada makes up a big part of the overall operations of the airline. It is basically focused to transport Arabs, members of these two countries' communities, and students, as well as businessmen and transit passengers.
RJ connects Amman with Chicago directly through five weekly flights, and to New York four times weekly, whereas Montreal and Detroit are served twice weekly. The frequency of flights to the North American destinations increases in the summer season.

Misto added that North American destinations are the longest-range destinations on the RJ route network. Therefore, RJ cares to offer its customers the highest standards of comfort on board.

The 787 features a host of new technologies that greatly enhance the passenger experience, such as larger windows, bigger overhead bins and enhanced ventilation systems.

Royal Jordanian welcomed its fifth 787 aircraft last week, thus completing the assimilation of the first batch of its 787 order, undertaken according to the airline’s strategic plan to renew its long-haul fleet. The 787s that RJ acquired are a new, advanced generation of the 787.

The airline will start receiving the rest of the ordered Dreamliners at the beginning of 2016, throughout the following few years.
The 787 provides airlines with unrivaled fuel efficiency, using 20 per cent less fuel than today’s similarly sized airplanes, and enable it to offer an exclusive eco-friendly performance.

The new planes also enable airlines to increase their cargo revenues by providing about 20 -30 per cent more cargo capacity than the current airplanes of the same size.
RJ’s 787 has a capacity of 270 seats, of which 24 Crown Class with fully 180 degree flat beds.
